The staff at the KKF exhibits an exceptional level of dedication and integrity. They also treated me like family and made me laugh a lot! My day started with a personal tour of Kasey’s Sprint car shop where I was able to get up close to the cars that were being worked on. Next I found myself a bit star struck as I was standing in Kasey’s office looking at his personal mementos! I then had the opportunity to meet and observe the people who are in charge of and run the shops daily operations. Very cool indeed. My main job was to assist in setting up for a sponsor luncheon that was being held the next day at the race shop. My duties included all sorts of things from washing dishes to setting up the event space. At the end of the day I had some time to meet and greet the fans that came to the visitor’s area to get a glimpse of Kasey’s shop and his many trophies on display. There was much excitement in the air as it was the weekend of the Bank of America 500 at the Lowes Motor Speedway. The fans enthusiasm was quite contagious! I have always been proud to be a member of the NASCAR Foundation and its Volunteer Network. Having had the opportunity to work closely with the exceptional people at the KKF and learn first- hand about the exceptional things they accomplish has only intensified my commitment to support the NASCAR Foundation Family of Charities. Patty New Jersey A Day in the life of a KKF Volunteer May 9, 2008 Once per month a lucky person will get the chance to volunteer for the Kasey Kahne Foundation at Kasey’s race shop! Each volunteer will be chosen from The NASCAR Foundation Volunteer Network database. In May, Jenna Hart became the first ever NINE Volunteer! On May 9th I got to volunteer at the Kasey Kahne Foundation in Mooresville NC. I was so honored to be the inaugural volunteer of such a great program. In the past I’ve worked with the NASCAR Foundation, which is how the KKF got my name. Kasey is the official spokesperson for the NASCAR Foundation Volunteer Network and because I’m a member, I was offered this really cool experience! I was looking forward to meeting new people and just being able to help others as a volunteer. The staff at KKF was ready for me! I got an insider’s tour of Kasey’s personal race shop. This was really exciting to me because Kasey’s roots are in dirt racing and so are mine! I grew up with racing in the mid-west and I really enjoyed seeing all of Kasey’s dirt race cars. My main responsibilities as a volunteer were to fill donation requests for special charitable organizations including those that care for chronically ill children and their families. I also greeted guests and answered the phones. It was a fun experience and I hope that someday we will get to work together again. Jenna Charlotte, NC |
